The story
Sons of Hermann Hall opened in 1911 as a gathering place for German fraternal lodges in Dallas. Its upstairs ballroom and neighborhood bar became part of Deep Ellum’s musical life. Billy Joe Shaver and the Old 97’s are among the artists who have played the hall. Today it hosts concerts, swing dancing and an acoustic jam, with country and Western swing among its musical traditions.
