Penny Grossman and family began running Sam’s Town Point in 1981, when this stretch of South Austin felt farther from town. Musician Ramsay Midwood later helped develop it into a gathering place for artists and bands, with Western swing, steel guitar, blues, and his own shows sharing the rooms.
