The story
The Rattlesnake Saloon sits under a natural rock shelter on Seven Springs Lodge land that the Foster family has owned since 1916, when Owen Foster bought the first tract. The family once used the shelter as a hog pen. Danny Foster and his youngest son, William Gordon Foster, built the saloon in 49 days, and it opened on Labor Day weekend in 2009. The name comes from a rattlesnake den that workers found nearby during construction. The saloon serves food and features live local music. Beer, cider and wine are served only after 5 PM, and IDs are checked after that hour. Guests wait in the parking area for the saloon taxi down to the rock. The saloon is seasonal and closed in December and January.
