Neon Boots opened in August 2013 inside the former Esquire Ballroom, where Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Merle Haggard had performed. Country dancing returned after several intervening uses. Neon Boots serves Houston’s LGBTQ country community and other dancers while preserving reminders of the earlier room.
