The story
Mercury Lounge opened in 2005 in a converted gas station at 18th Street and Boston Avenue. Its stage has hosted Billy Joe Shaver, Dale Watson, Turnpike Troubadours and Wanda Jackson. The room supports country, Red Dirt, bluegrass and a broader range of original music.
Jacob Tovar's Honkytonk Tuesday residency is part of that history. A session recorded at Mercury Lounge accompanied his 2021 album Another Time, Another Place, with musicians including John Fullbright on keys and Roger Ray on pedal steel.
