Anhalt’s roots lie with the Germania Farmer Verein, organized by local ranchers in 1875–76. Dances and seasonal festivals became part of community life. The present dance floor was added in 1908 for $2,512.37; Maifest and Oktoberfest continue its German-Texan traditions.
